National Car Club Awards
The National Car Club Awards takes place alongside the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery. Established in 2016, the awards acknowledge exceptional work amongst UK Classic Car Clubs, the contributions of the enthusiastic people who run the clubs on behalf of their memebers, as well as celebrating the cherished cars themselves which members own.
Presented in association with Tourism Ireland, supported by Classic Car Weekly and endorsed by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), the 2018 dinner took place on Saturday 24th March 2018 and was a wonderful evening, full of celebration.
British racing icon Sir Stirling Moss was amongst those honoured at the 2018 awards, with 18 awards presented to car clubs and individuals.
Sir Stirling received the Judges Special Recognition Award, sponsored by Lancaster Insurance, for his services not only to motorsport but the time and effort he has given to the motoring community and classic car clubs. The award was accepted by close friend Peter James.
The coverted Lifetime Achievement award went to Drummond Black from the Jowett Car Club for 55 years of service to the club. Since joining the club in 1963, Drummond has maintained his enthusiasm, sense of humour and selfless contribution to this day according to those who nominated him.
The rest of the awards were split into three categories - Classic Car Clubs, Devoted Members and At Show winners, chosen from the clubs displaying at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show, with Discovery.
