The Swallow Register is for all cars wearing the Swallow brand, built between May 1927 and August 1933, starting off in Blackpool before car production transferred to Coventry.
Swallow are the fore-runner to SS and then Jaguar. These early cars were built on other manufacturer's chassis, notably, the Austin 7 chassis (the most popular), Standard Big 9 and Standard 16hp, Standard Little 9, Swift 10, Fiat 9, Morris Cowley, and of course, the Wolseley Hornet.
There are no known survivors of the Fiat or Morris, there are just two survivors of the Swift, one each of the Standard Little 9 and Standard 16hp, six of the Standard Big Nine and a number of the Wolseley Hornets, by far the biggest survivor is the Austin 7.
At this year's show, we have focused on the Austin Swallows, having two of the saloons, two of the two-seater and a restoration project - we plan to do an engine re-build over the weekend and attempt a "will it run" on Sunday!
