Riley Centenaries
A Riley Brooklands seen at the NEC

Back  in 1926 Rileys caused quite a stir in the car world. What was all the fuss about then.

1926 was when the Riley 9 appeared in the shape of the Monaco saloon. The surprise was under the bonnet in the guise of an entirely new engine with what became known as the PR cylinder head. This had hemispherical combustion chambers, valves inclined at 45 degrees operated by twin highset camshafts. This was unusual in a smaller road car and endowed the Monaco with notable performance compared to other 9HP cars of the time. Tuners soon latched onto this and  the famous Riley Brooklands race model as seen in the photo very soon appeared on the scene.

We will have an example of this game changing cylinder head on our stand
