Celebrating 75 years of the Morris Minor

Morris Minor Owners Club Stand: 5-525
Celebrating 75 years of the Morris Minor

Our stand shows how easy it is to keep a Minor on the road in the 21st Century. We have members from the Coventry and Warwickshire and Birmingham Branches carrying out a number of activities including Disc Brake upgrades, fitting wood to a traveller and fitting a new interior.

The Club is also working in aid of Marie Curie who also celebrate their 75th anniversary to launch a major campaign to generate much needed funds to ensure the charity can continue to offer vital help and support to those living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones.

The Club will be using an April 1963 2 door Morris Minor called Miranda to travel the length and breadth of the UK to help generate much need support for the work of Marie Curie and to raise interest and awareness of the Owners Club. Follow the cars travels on the Web https://miranda.mmoc.org.uk/

The car, generously donated by Ruth Smith from Dorset, has been specially wrapped by Blueprint  Nottingham  with an eye-catching unique design which will be highly visible as it travels to and from Marie Curie and Morris Minor Club events where it will be possible for members of the public to sit behind the wheel and have a photo taken whilst at the same time buying mementos and keepsakes to commemorate their support for the charity and its work.

The car will be launched at 10:00am on Friday March 24th 2023 at the Practical Classics Restoration Show at the NEC, Birmingham.  Hall 5 – stand 650 Contact - Susan Akrill

Commenting on the unique partnership, Richard Scott, Head of Fundraising and Volunteering for Marie Curie said:

“Once again we are incredibly proud and pleased to be working with the Morris Minor Owners Club as both organisations celebrate major anniversaries this year.  In past years, the club has raised over £100,000 for Marie Curie which has helped us continue our important work.  We’re tremendously excited by Miranda Minor and we wish her great success throughout the rest of the year”

Speaking for the Morris Minor Owners Club, Secretary Ray Newell said:

“Our project car Miranda will be visiting many venues in 2023, supporting the volunteers of Marie Curie whilst to introducing the Morris Minor to a new group of people and, hopefully, encouraging a few to join our club.  As a club with a very active membership, we have a long tradition of helping Marie Curie and we are very much looking forward to a busy year visiting new people and taking our car to see them.”
