Barker-bodied Daimler DB18 Special Sports of 1952

2026 marks 130 years since the UK’s first production car emerged on to British streets in 1986. Daimler’s ‘first’ coincided with the abolishing of the speed-restricting ‘red flag’ and thereby marked the beginning of the UK’s auto-industry in which The Daimler Motor Company Ltd was to play a massive role.
At the PCCCRS this year, The Daimler & Lanchester Owners’ Club will work on several cars spanning the mid-1930s to early 1980s, which together epitomise key milestones in automotive technology: from the smooth and fool-proof paring of Daimler’s fluid-flywheel with the Wilson epicyclic pre-select gearbox, as used in the car shown, to the giant leap in safety provided by all-round disc-brakes - an invention of the 1890s, first utilised by the Lanchester Motor Company in 1902. Please join us for a chat on our stand #5-490 in Hall 5 as we bring three of these lovely cars ‘back to life’.
