Stourbridge Pre-War Car Club
Stourbridge Pre-War Car Club brings a brilliant mix of originality, rare commercial history and hands-on restoration to the show this year, with three very different cars on display – and live work taking place on the stand.
Cars on display:
-
1934 Morris Minor Two-Seater Tourer
A wonderful survivor with just two owners from new. Owned by its first keeper until 1996, it remains largely untouched, never fully restored. Aside from a repaint, it retains its original body panels and interior, and the engine has never been rebored. A rare chance to see a truly original pre-war car up close. -
1947 Post Office Telephones Morris Z-Type Van
One of a batch of 604 vans built for Post Office Telephones, this example (fleet number U46634) was originally issued to the Dudley area. Fully restored and refitted to original specification inside, complete with period-correct tools and equipment. Even rarer, it still wears its original rubber wings – something you hardly ever see today. -
1969 Lotus Cortina Mk2
Shown on this very stand in 2022 as a bare shell in primer, the car is now nearing completion. The entire restoration has been carried out by the owner in his home garage, with only the upholstery outsourced. He’s owned the car for 43 years, buying it back in 1983 at the age of 18 for just £560.
Live restoration on the stand:
The Lotus Cortina will be getting its interior fitted live during the show. With the glass, headlining and dashboard already in place, visitors will be able to watch as the seats, carpets, door cards, centre console and finishing details are installed. Once complete, the car will be just about ready to hit the road again – a proper restoration milestone you can see happen in real time.
A cracking stand for anyone who appreciates originality, rare vehicles, and seeing a long-term restoration finally come together.
