Renault Owners Club: Live Engine Rebuilds & Rare Renaults on Show

The Renault Owners Club are bringing proper hands-on action to the show, mixing rare display cars with live restoration work you can watch up close. To mark 30 years of the Renault Mégane, they’ll be displaying a rare early example that was rescued from the scrapyard – a real reminder of how vital regular maintenance is if you want these cars to survive.

Taking centre stage is a stunning, scratch-built replica of the legendary Renault 5 Turbo 2, created by the owner from the ground up. It’s the sort of build you don’t see every day and a brilliant example of what’s possible with time, skill and stubborn determination. Alongside it will be a fully restored Renault Twingo, recently featured in the club’s magazine, plus a fresh barn find brought over from France.

But this stand isn’t just about looking – it’s about getting stuck in. Across the weekend, the team are aiming to strip and rebuild a Renault 5 engine live on the stand, talking visitors through the process as they go. Expect plenty of practical tips on engines and electrics, honest chat about common problems, and the sort of advice you only get from people who work on these cars week in, week out.

If you like seeing classic cars worked on properly, and want to pick up a few real-world maintenance tips along the way, this is one stand you’ll want to spend some time at.
