MINIKITS

MINIKITS is celebrating 15 years of building the weird, wonderful and downright brilliant, and they’re marking the milestone by bringing along two of the rarest machines they’ve ever created – including a one-off design linked to Sir Stirling Moss, and a truly mad, Mini-based double-decker bus kit car.

Friday will see a proper birthday bash on the stand, celebrating their journey from Restoration Show underdogs to show winners – graft, late nights and oily hands paying off.

Vehicles on display
  • TiCi – 1972 Production Prototype
Backed by Sir Stirling Moss and ERA, and the actual car shown at the 1972 London Motor Show. A genuine piece of kit car history and a real crowd-puller.

  • Type B Omnibus – Mini-based Double Decker
A completely one-off build – a classic Mini turned into a double-decker bus. Ridiculous in the best possible way, and guaranteed to stop people in their tracks.

  • Domino Pimlico – One-off Automatic Prototype
A rare survivor and a fascinating glimpse into low-volume specialist car design.

  • Mk1 Scamp – Fully Rebuilt
Restored with beautifully executed weld work, showing what can be achieved with proper craftsmanship and patience.

  • Fibreglass Classic Mini Pickup – Prototype
A rare concept vehicle showing the more experimental side of Mini-based kit car design.

  • BIOTA Open Two-Seater – Mini-based Kit Car
Fully rebuilt and raced – a lightweight, no-nonsense machine built to be driven hard and enjoyed properly.

Live restoration & demonstrations

Expect live, hands-on work across the weekend, with Paul Wylde carrying out electrical repairs and loom work on the TiCi. There’ll be plenty of detail work going on too, so visitors can see what it really takes to keep these rare builds alive and usable.

Every car on the stand has a story, but the TiCi and the Mini-based Omnibus will be the headline acts – two proper conversation-starters that sum up exactly what MINIKITS is all about: creativity, courage, and building stuff just because you can.
