A Deep Dive into Swedish Engineering with SAAB Enthusiasts Club
Saab Enthusiasts UK will be putting live restoration and hands-on engineering firmly in the spotlight, offering visitors a deep dive into the wonderfully quirky world of Swedish design.
Throughout the show, the team will be carrying out live restoration work on the stand, giving visitors the chance to watch real jobs being tackled in real time. Expect hands-on demonstrations covering wiring, freewheel linkage work and body trim repairs on a Saab 96V4, with plenty of opportunities to chat with the experts and pick up practical tips along the way.
Supporting the live work is a standout selection of Saabs that span decades of innovation. Taking pride of place is a rare 1994 Saab 9000 CS Aero, believed to be one of just five white right-hand-drive examples still in existence. With an impressive 275,000 miles under its belt, this long-legged cruiser has been tastefully enhanced with a TD04 20T turbo and custom remap, blending classic Saab character with modern performance.
Alongside it sits a 1977 Saab 96L, currently mid-restoration, featuring a bored-out 1.7-litre engine and period-correct Ronal alloy wheels, perfectly illustrating the journey from project car to finished classic.
The stand also features a number of unique interactive highlights, including an original 1963 “cut-away” engine – an 841cc two-stroke demonstration unit first shown at the Earls Court Motor Show. Visitors are invited to turn the crank handle and watch the internal mechanics spring into life. Adding to the nostalgia is a rare Erik Carlsson pedal car, based on the 1963 two-stroke and created by the legendary rally driver himself.
Whether you’re devoted to two-strokes, turbocharged icons, or simply love seeing live restoration in action, the Saab Enthusiasts UK stand promises hands-on learning, rare machinery and plenty of classic Saab charm.
